Connect Your Website

Shopify

Shopify changes go through a handoff. The agent writes the change and tells you where it goes. You make it in your Shopify admin, then tell the agent it's live.

Tell the agent in Setup

  • Which parts of the store it may change: products, collections, pages, blog posts.
  • Any SEO app you use.
  • Whether you, or someone you work with, edit your theme's code.

Page titles and meta descriptions

These are what Google usually shows for a page in search results. Products, collections, pages, and blog posts each have their own.

  1. 1Open the product, collection, page, or blog post in your Shopify admin.
  2. 2In the Search engine listing preview section, click Edit website SEO.
  3. 3Replace the Page title and Description with the text from the handoff.
  4. 4Click Save.

Your homepage

  1. 1Go to Online Store, then Preferences.
  2. 2In the Social sharing image and SEO section, enter the title and meta description from the handoff.
  3. 3Click Save.

Leave the URL handle alone

The same SEO section holds the page's URL handle. Change it only if the handoff asks you to. A new handle gives the page a new address, which is one of the changes the agent always asks you about first.

Headings and content

On a product or collection, the Title field is usually also the main heading on the page. Change it only when the handoff says to. Descriptions, page content, and blog posts are edited on the same screen as the title.

Changes in your theme

A few changes live in your theme's code rather than on a page: structured data, or a heading that every product page shares. The handoff will say when that's the case. If nobody on your team edits theme code, tell the agent, and it will stick to changes you can make in the admin. If you do edit it, duplicate the theme first so you can go back.

New pages and blog posts

A handoff for a new page gives you its title, content, URL handle, page title and description, and the pages that should link to it. Create it, fill in each field, and make it visible. Then add the links.

After you publish

  1. 1Open the live page in your store and check the change is there.
  2. 2Tell the agent it's live, with the page's address. Why it matters.
  3. 3Optional: request indexing in Search Console.

These steps follow Shopify's help center as of September 2026. If your admin looks different, ask the agent where the field is.
